Update

My life has changed so much in the past several years, I thought I would update and try to put into words some of the changes that have taken place.  I was raised in a kind of strange church that pretty well believes in being Pharisee's (of course they would never call it that), and being saved by works not by grace (among quite a number of other things).  I never remember hearing a sermon on the message of the cross, or anything that hinted that Jesus had anything to do with my having salvation.  When we moved to Flint, MI and began attending different churches we started to realize that a lot of the things we had been taught were not true to the Bible.  That was the start of a journey towards freedom that I am on.  We moved from Michigan to Texas, and attended Chuck Swindoll's church, learned a little more about truth from God's Word.  It wasn't until we moved to Georgia and began attending First Baptist of Atlanta, that my relationship with Jesus became personal.  He had seemed more like an acquaintance, Bible reading an exercise that "good christians" are supposed to do, not a dynamic encouraging thing that was life changing.  When I started listening to Dr. Stanley's sermons each week, they seemed to be exactly what I needed for that week.  At the same time I started counseling at First Baptist, basically to sort things out and figure out what really is truth, and how to know Jesus as a personal friend, not a distant acquaintance.  Through that whole experience, and a tape series called "Grace Walk" by Steve McVey, I began to see the truths of God's Word about grace, and the cross, and how to know Jesus.  I started seeing the false beliefs I had believed were just that, false.  It has definitely been a journey, I had been thinking false for 17+ years, and it was hard to change that and let go.  I started having devotions with Dr. Stanley's Life Principles Bible, and the teaching in it combined with a different, easier to understand version, transformed my devotion time.  I had never looked forward to devotions, and now I am so excited to sit down with my daily Bible and read.  There is always some cool tidbit, or nugget that I have never seen in quite the same way before.  It has been awesome to see God at work in my life, and I can't wait to see what He has in store for me!

Update

Just thought I'd make a quick update.  I am currently living in Nashville, TN and working at a pre-school, The Gardner School.  I started out as a teacher floater, but now am the assistant teacher in the two year old class, as well as Music teacher for three - five year olds.  It is a fun and sometimes rewarding job.  I love working with kids, the ones I have are a sweet bunch.

We are looking for a church home, so if any of you know of a good church in the Nashville area, please let me know.

Blessings to you all in the xanga world!

This is old news, and most of you have probably already seen it, but I thought it very interesting.

For those who have not forgotten, a very ironic quote from the senior U.S. Senator from Massachusetts on his support for amnesty for illegal aliens: - The "Hero" of Chappaquiddick speaks - Ted Kennedy on why he supports amnesty for those sneaking across the Rio Grande:

Independence Day

This morning's service at First Baptist of Atlanta was a fourth of July themed service (they tape it early so it can air next weekend), and there was a bald eagle for the occassion!

Quite strange to have birds in church!

GOP

I spent this weekend volunteering at the GA GOP convention.  A lot of fun, definitely, but lots of work as well.  For the past several months it seems like I've spent 95% of my time in a work uniform, so it was nice to get out and do something I'd like to do for a change.  I volunteered to help out in registration, but ended up working as sergeant at arms counting votes and such, too.  I enjoy volunteering whether it be for the GOP or IBLP or whatever - just feels good to be helping out a good cause and making a difference not matter how small my contribution may be.
